Social Club Group Outings
Social Club Group Outings are free pack-walk outings for graduate students who are ready to practice in a supportive, structured environment. We meet in a variety of dog-friendly locations—from busier streets to open trails—so you can apply the communication and walking skills you’ve built in previous classes while enjoying the outdoors and strengthening your bond.
What we work on
Each outing rotates locations and focus areas to build real-world reliability, including:
-
Leash skills and walk structure (calm starts, clean transitions, consistent expectations)
-
Pack-walk etiquette and safety (spacing, neutrality, control, and handler awareness)
-
Engagement exercises, training drills, and tricks to keep and engaged and purposeful walk
-
Reward-based strategies for maintaining focus around distractions (people, dogs, scents, environments)
-
AKC Canine Good Citizen (CGC) Exercises for real-world and behavioral test standards
-
Scent-search and enrichment games for mental stimulation and confidence
-
Bonding exercises that strengthen teamwork between you and your dog
These outings are designed to provide both physical exercise and mental stimulation, while creating a community where handlers can support each other and work together as a team.
